The next day, Becky invites her friend Mitchell (Nathan Bronson) into her house and explains that Gwen (a former girlfriend of Becky's ex) is stalking her. She wants him to keep her company and safe, which Mitchell agrees to.

Later that night, Becky and Mitchell are sitting on the couch together watching television. Becky is curled up into Mitchell's side, obviously still seeking comfort, although her attention is on the television. Mitchell glances between the television and Becky. He hesitates a moment but puts an arm around her. She accepts his arm, not making a big deal of it as she gets comfortable and snuggles into it. He's trying hard not to smile but he looks innocently delighted at having Becky lying in his arms.

It becomes clear that to her, it's not a romantic gesture, just a friendly cuddle. Mitchell looks disappointed but doesn't seem to want to push the issue more aggressively.

Suddenly a loud crash startles them both. Becky is terrified and Mitchell jumps to his feet in front of her, being protective. Mitchell tells Becky to stay put and slowly goes towards the back door, the suspense building as he searches for Gwen. Just when it seems like Gwen might pop up, it's revealed to be nothing. Mitchell is relieved and starts to tell Becky but when he turns around, we see Becky watching after him, oblivious to Gwen standing behind her.

Mitchell yells to Becky, who is terrified and runs to him.

Gwen admits to being obsessed with Becky and wanting to see her get fucked. She starts to manipulate Mitchell into lusting for Becky as well. Mitchell tries to resist but, after more manipulation by Gwen, admits that he does have feelings for Becky.

Mitchell admits to feeling a bit resentful of being overlooked. Gwen continues getting into his head until Mitchell suggests that they fuck. Becky is still hesitant but agrees after Gwen promises that she'll leave her alone afterwards.

It's as if there is something off about the photo but he can't quite put his finger on it. But before he can investigate further, Annie unlocks the front door and enters.

Annie explains that the internet hasn't worked for a long period of time, normal for the isolated rural area they live in. Before his accident, she had been bugging him to call the internet provider about it. BUT, she doesn't want to bother him with this stuff now, insisting that SHE'LL call the internet company as soon as she can. She kisses him and leaves the room to get dinner started. Kylie is suspicious of Mr. Grayson's offer, though is tempted. Mr. Grayson insists that he's attracted to her, and that he'll take care of her in exchange for having sex with him.

Kylie is very reluctant to have sex, but Mr. Grayson continues to convince her until she finally decides to go ahead with it, intent on providing a secure future for her little one.

Dr. Cross suggests traditional fertility treatments but Olivia and Jacob can't afford any of them. As the couple fret, trying to comfort each other, Dr. Cross is slightly grinning to himself, unnoticed, feeding off their misery. As Olivia clutches Jacob, burying her face into him and letting out a choked sob, Dr. Cross says that there is ONE solution he can propose. Olivia lifts her head, the doctor having their full attention.

Dr. Cross takes a deep breath and levelly says that he can have sex with Olivia to impregnate her on their behalf. Olivia is stunned but Jacob is outraged, coming at Dr. Cross. Kenzie holds Jacob back as he cools down and the couple discusses their options, with Dr. Cross silently revelling in their misery. They are still heavily conflicted and seem about to say no, but Dr. Cross continues his scare tactics. Finally the anguished couple agree.

What Dr. Cross is about to do may have seemed inconceivable to Olivia and Jacob earlier that day, but now they're all out of options...

There is the sound of a Newton's Cradle which we see clacking in the foreground on his desk. We can also hear the faint sounds of a cityscape through his bedroom window. Ted is nervous and adjusting his clothes. He is rehearsing in front of the mirror, trying to come up with a way to express his love for his best friend Gabi and to convince her to break up with her longtime boyfriend Drake.

He retrieves a pocket watch that he got for Gabi's birthday. He thinks it's broken and manhandles it, accidentally uncovering a secret compartment that emits a strange effect as it opens.

The distortion effect ripples out across the screen like a shockwave. Sound and movement slow to a stop for everyone but Ted. Ted is confused, looks around the room, sees that his clock is no longer moving. He remarks that it's weird the clock stopped. He feels something is amiss and sees that the Newton's Cradle has stopped in mid swing. He can't believe what he's seeing, and pulls back a bit in fear.

Ted leans in to peer and scrutinize the Newton's Cradle with shock and curiosity. Ted looks in wonder and cautiously reaches a hand out. He touches the Cradle. At his touch, the balls instantly start to swing again, the clacking sound whooshing back. Ted stares for a moment at the moving Cradle, then something catches his attention out the window. He goes to look out the window. 'What...the...hell? Everything's just...STOPPED. The birds...the people. Nothing's...MOVING. Th-that's IMPOSSIBLE. It's like time is just...FROZEN,' Ted says in stunned disbelief.

Ted looks down at his hand, only now noticing he still is idly holding the open watch in his hand. It starts to dawn on him that the watch did this. He looks out at the frozen city in awe, gazing back and forth between the city and the watch a few times. He seems to get an idea. As he stares out the window, he snaps the clock closed.

Instantaneously, the sounds of the cityscape whoosh back in and the clock hand begins moving again. Everything has become unfrozen. Ted stares, stunned into silence, for several seconds. 'Gabi...' he finally whispers.

CUT TO TITLE

CUT TO another day. Gabi's birthday dinner party is in full swing. Gabi (Alina Lopez) sits beside Drake (Nathan Bronson) at the dinner table. Ted sits across from Gabi. Their mutual friends Pat and Leslie sit around them, and everybody but Ted are clearly enjoying themselves, engaged in light and lively conversation, laughing and joking. Ted seems withdrawn and distracted, spaced-out. He isn't talking to anyone, and instead keeps pulling the watch in and out of his pocket and looking at it under the table.

As the other guests are busy, Gabi notices Ted's distraction. She touches his hand and asks what's wrong. Ted snaps out of his distraction, seemingly reminded of his strong feelings for Gabi. Ted is about to profess his love for Gabi when he is interrupted by Drake getting on bended knee in front of Gabi. He proposes and Gabi says yes as Ted panics. 'Yes...I am,' he says, his smile gone.

CUT TO TITLE PLATE

Resuming the interview, Lois looks stunned at James's admission. 'I am guilty...guilty of being in the wrong place at the wrong time,' James clarifies. He happened to be at the club that night, and he happened to be the last person seen with... James says, trailing off, blanking at the victim's name. When he left the woman, she was still alive. Janice puts on a brave face and tries to assure him that everything was above board, and that the winning bid was just at a better rate than what Bill's company was offering, but Bill insists that it's not possible, he has ties with all the local suppliers and there's no way anybody else in town could match his bid. Janice reprimands Bill telling him that if he wants to meet formally to discuss the issue, he's welcome to schedule an appointment, but she warns him that he'd better think twice before speaking to her like that again or he risks closing the door on future negotiations. Bill tells Janice that he's not the only one who thinks things have been fishy lately, and that she'd better remember that it's her constituents who pay her bills each week. Through gritted teeth, Janice thanks Bill for being a concerned citizen, and slams the phone back in the cradle in frustration. As soon as she's hung up, Janice's brave face and confident posture dissolve, and she collapses back into her chair and puts her head on her desk in tears.

CUT TO TITLE PLATE

We cut back to Janice's office an indeterminate time later. She's stopped crying and is back at work, though with none of the confidence or determination she exhibited earlier. She is clearly having trouble concentrating, rubbing her eyes wearily and swearing to herself under her breath. Before long, the door to her office opens and in struts Garrett (Zac Wild), a cocky smarmy-looking businessman who strolls up to greet her and -- rather than sitting on the chair facing her - sits straight on the corner of the desk. Looking uncomfortable, Janice quietly moves her papers and other clutter away from his intrusive form seated on her desk. She tells Garrett that she's very busy right now, and asks what he wants. He says that he's sure she has time for a little chat, she always manages to make time for him. Looking bothered and anxious, Janice gets up from her seat and goes to close her office door discreetly. When she looks back, Garrett is now sitting in her seat. She asks him to get out of her seat, but with none of the forceful tone she used on the phone earlier. Instead, she seems pathetic and desperate here. Garrett gives her a greasy smile and pats his lap, telling her there's plenty of room if she wants to join him. She turns her head, disgusted. Without looking back at Garrett, she asks what he wants.

Janice pleads with him -- he needs to be reasonable. She's given him everything he's asked for, to the point where people are starting to get suspicious. Garrett says that that isn't his problem, and he asks her where all that worry about getting caught was a few months ago when she was embezzling funds from the public office for her personal use. If only she'd been more careful then, she'd never be in this situation now. But she wasn't, and all this is just the universe's way of balancing things out. Janice gets more desperate -- if he wants to keep his leverage, he has to be smart about this. She can't help him if she gets indicted. Maybe they could revisit his proposal in a few months, after things have a chance to die down. Garrett admits that she makes good points, but he's just not a patient guy. What is she going to give him to keep him happy in the meantime? Janice looks completely broken down -- she doesn't have anything left to offer him. He's already taken everything from her -- he's robbed her of her independence, her pride, her happiness. What could possibly be left for him to take?

Garrett stands up from the office chair and says that he can think of one thing, and reaches out to stroke her breasts with his hand. Janice flinches and takes a step back. 'Ah, Italian!' he exclaims, and boasts that he speaks a little Italian himself. He recites a small phrase in French, and Rosa nervously responds that she doesn't know French. Trent dismisses his blunder, then boasts that he travels a lot for work and he's been all over the world. He asks if she likes to travel and she says that she'd never been out of Italy until she moved here a few months ago, her family didn't have much money growing up and since coming to the States she's been cleaning houses for a living and sending some of her wages back to them when she can afford to. Trent misses the point, and tells her that she's missing out if she's never traveled for fun, getting uncomfortably close to Rosa. It's clear that she's unhappy with his close proximity, but he either doesn't notice or doesn't care.

Trent seems emboldened by what he mistakes as Rosa being friendly instead of just polite. He asks her if she's ever been to one of the local Italian restaurants, a fancy-sounding one. Rosa starts to apologize, she thought- 'Yeah, I know what you thought,' Trent interrupts, and his rude tone gradually gets worse as he starts to rant at her. 'Let me tell you, I do just fine. I've dated supermodels, I've dated fucking pop stars, trust me, I don't need to be hitting on my fucking maid, OK?'

As her boss gets more and more riled up, Rosa tries to calm him down. Finally she admits he's right, she's so sorry, and to make him feel better about himself she lies and says she must have misunderstood, english isn't her first language after all, she sometimes misunderstands things. The fact she acted like he was right seems to cool Trent down, and he starts to treat her nicely again, patronizing her even. Oh, of course, how silly of him, apology accepted. Sometimes he forgets who he's talking to, but he didn't mean to be so insensitive. He'll try to speak a bit slower from now on so she can understand better. Reluctantly, Rosa says thank you, and he says he'll leave her to her work then. He walks past her and gives her a pat on the shoulder, not noticing that she flinches slightly at his touch. He keeps walking away from the camera and out of focus, as Rosa stands there looking shaken.

Rosa says yes as she turns her attention back to scrubbing, and continues saying she has something very special planned for the night. Trent asks her to go on, and she seems to warm up to him a bit since his apology and becomes a bit more talkative. She tells him she's planning a romantic candlelit dinner, followed by a delicious dessert... although if all goes according to plan, 'we won't make it to dessert!' She lets out a hearty laugh. Trent remarks that that's very forward of her to say. Rosa looks back at him with a wink and says that she's Italian, passion runs in her blood. She and Trent continue to talk about her planned special night, with him still thinking it's him she's talking about. She asks if she can leave an hour early to get ready and he agrees.

Rosa thanks him graciously as she starts to collect her supplies from around the floor, and says that her boyfriend is going to be so surprised. Mr. Bradley's face cracks, her boyfriend? Rosa says yes, her boyfriend, for their three month anniversary, didn't she say so earlier? Mr. Bradley gets up slowly and starts to walk towards her with a heavy step. No, he says angrily, she didn't say so earlier. Rosa starts to say oh, well who else did he think she was referring to? But before she can finish, Trent interrupts her in a raised voice. 'I'm not paying you to run off and fuck your fucking boyfriend!' he shouts.
